DOULA

 Doula originates from a Greek word meaning a woman who serves. I serve expecting families from the Lakes Region to the Seacoast of NH who are having home births or are planning to birth at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. I am DONA trained and certified and a Kriya Birth Doula & Instructor. I am dedicated to serving expecting people in their prenatal, birth, and postpartum periods.

I find it imperative that personalities of a client and the doula mesh. A client and the doula will be together during the most intimate journeys of that persons' lifetime. As every person is amazingly unique, I encourage expecting people to interview several doulas before choosing one. Because I encourage interviewing several doulas, I do offer a complementary interview session.

 My birth Doula package includes prenatal visits, being present with you at your labor & birth, and a postpartum follow-up visit. My fee for this package is $1200.

 My postpartum Doula package includes a prenatal visit to review the postpartum expectations. This package starts at a minimum of three 3-4 hour visits and can be catered from there for what the family is looking for. This starting package fee is $540. I receive $45/hr for my postpartum time (within a 30-minute driving radius. If outside of this radius the fee is $50/hr).

Virtual Doula Support

My virtual Doula package includes prenatal check-ins/visits to help you navigate your pregnancy, create a birth and postpartum plan, to support you through your labor via phone, and provide support in processing your birth. My fee for this package is $700.

Childbirth Classes

I believe a mother needs to be informed in order to make the best decisions for her baby and herself. It used to be that by the time a girl was 15 she had witnessed a few births herself. By the time she was ready to have her own child, she had the support of the women with whom she lived. We no longer live in multigenerational homes. So, we hire Midwives and OB's and seek out their professional opinions. Though it is tough to remember that Midwives and OB's are human and cannot possibly know everything, it is important to put some onus on ourselves. For birthing women HIRE a Midwife/OB, it is important to know what questions to ask to spur discussion with her care provider.

I am CAPPA trained and certified, and offer group classes and individual classes. The group classes I offer are more than your traditional birthing series. They are for people who are interested in a deeper exploration of childbirth preparedness. We focus on natural ways to cope with fear (which lends to pain), learn about relaxation techniques to maintain an atmosphere of calm, ways to hold your sacred space, discover ideas behind different birthing philosophies and look at how media influences society's expectations of birth. Individual classes can be catered to the expecting couple.

Rates for entire class:

                         individual = $150

                      2 - 5 couples = $100 per couple

                      6 - 8 couples = $75 per couple
